NFC North Rundown , Week 3: Surprising results add mystery to the divi

On a day in which many NFC North fans were left in awe by the outcomes around the division, Green Bay Packers fans were left with a bitter taste in their mouths after a sloppy 31-17 loss to the Washington Redskins. With Womens Antonio Morrison Jersey the loss, the Packers (1-1-1) at least momentarily have slipped out of a tie for first place in the division as they look to right the ship against the Buffalo Bills this week. But that task may not be as easy as once anticipated. The Bills shocked the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday with a dominating victory on the road. Left in rather unfamiliar territory, the Vikings’ defense will be forced to regroup after a day of confusion, especially in the secondary.Minnesota wasn’t the only surprise in week three, as the Detroit Lions pulled off a commanding upset of the New England Patriots after two humiliating defeats to start the regular season. Matt Patricia’s win over Bill Belichick for his first NFL victory as head coach couldn’t have come at a better time, with the Chicago Bears assuming sole possession of the lead in the divisional standings with a comeback win of their own.All in all, the results of week three leave NFC North fans uncertain about who the real contenders are and those stories are in today’s rundown.Detroit Lions (1-2)Won 26-10 vs. New England; Next at DallasDominant upset of Patriots gives Lions’ season hopeIn one of the biggest surprises of the week, Detroit “out-Lioned” the Patriots, according to Ricky Jean-Francois, as Matt Patricia recorded his first head coaching win against his old boss. Kerryon Johnson puts end to Detroit Lions’ 100-yard futilityWith a 101-yard output, Johnson became the first Lions rusher to hit the century mark since Reggie Bush in 2013 (against the Packers).TIM AND MIKE: Week 3 observationsJohnson wasn’t the only rookie to perform at a high level on Sunday. Also, the “Lucky 13s” and a strong offensive line allowed for a much-needed strong performance in Detroit.Minnesota Vikings (1-1-1)Lost 27-6 vs. Buffalo; Next at LA RamsWhere did that come from? Against all odds, Bills destroy Vikings in stunning fashionHere is a recap of the Bills’ shocker that left the Vikings in what the author calls a “purple daze” heading into a tough matchup with the Rams.3 Stats That Stood Out: Bills at VikingsA startlingly low number of rushing attempts was one of three very pivotal factors playing into Minnesota’s downfall against Buffalo.Defense’s miscommunication allowing big gains for Vikings opponentsComparisons can be made between the Viking defense that was uncharacteristically torched in the 2017 NFC Championship Game and the one that was beat badly Sunday against the Bills. All position groups, especially the nickel corners are to blame for the breakdowns.Chicago Bears (2-1)Won 16-14 at Arizona; Next vs. Tampa BayGame Recap: Bears win thriller in ArizonaBehind a second-half rally and four defensive takeaways, the Bears took a game from the Cardinals in addition to the lead in the NFC North.Khalil Mack’s dominance has Bears in Mitch Trubisky predicamentWhile the defense continues to impress in Chicago Womens Corey Linsley Jersey , the Bears are searching for some sense of consistency from Trubisky, who turned the ball over twice while showing a lack of accuracy and decision-making in the red zone. Head Coach Matt Nagy preaches patience.Chicago Bears: Matt Nagy passes a huge test as head coachNagy’s instincts and second-half adjustments after early struggles on offense were a factor in Sunday’s game. For one writer, the team seems to be rallying around its coach despite not playing its best football yet. It appears that the Green Bay Packers’ issues on defense during the first three games of the 2018 season are leading the front office to look outside the organization to see if there are payers who can help improve the team’s inconsistent pass coverage. On Tuesday, Rob Demovsky of ESPN reported that the Packers brought in a pair of veteran cornerbacks for workouts, both of whom have had bizarre offseasons. The first name is Bashaud Breeland, who was one of the top cornerbacks on this year’s free agent market. A 2014 fourth-round pick, Breeland started all of his first four years in Washington before hitting the market, and he initially agreed to a contract with the Carolina Panthers. However, he injured his foot in a freak accident in the Dominican Republic and failed his physical, remaining on the open market ever since. The question marks about Breeland do not involve his talent or productivity. Though not an elite athlete, he did run the 40-yard dash in 4.53 seconds at the 2014 NFL Combine and he possesses good height at 5-foot-11-3/8. In four years for Washington, he recorded eight interceptions and 59 total pass defenses, with at least one pick and 11 defenses in each season. Instead, his physical and the financials of the situation will likely be a determining factor as to whether he can help Mike Pettine’s defense.David Amerson is the other reported name, and he was also a Washington draft pick, going in round two of the 2013 Draft. After two years in DC Womens Muhammad Wilkerson Jersey , the team waived him early in the 2015 season, and the Oakland Raiders claimed him. He played for them through the end of that season, posting a whopping four interceptions and 26 pass defenses in 14 games, leading to a massive four-year, $33 million contract extension in the summer of 2016.However, the Raiders released him unceremoniously this offseason after just two years on that deal, including a 2017 that was largely lost to a foot injury of his own. The Chiefs signed him to a one-year, $2.25 million contract in February, but they cut him loose in the cut-down to 53. Amerson tested better than Breeland in his pre-draft workouts, running a 4.44 40 at the Combine and a 3-cone drill of 6.75 seconds at his Pro Day (compared to Breeland’s 7.03 at the Combine). He also stands nearly two inches taller at 6-foot-1.Demovsky’s reporting also indicates that several other defensive players were in the team facilities today as well but mentioned only these two by name. The team also had a workout scheduled for offensive lineman Gerhard de Beer, news that his agent reported on Monday. The Packers currently have five cornerbacks on the roster: veterans Tramon Williams and Davon House, second-year pro Kevin King (who missed last week’s game with a groin injury), and rookies Jaire Alexander and Josh Jackson. In addition, the team is expected to open up a roster spot by placing defensive tackle Muhammad Wilkerson on injured reserve.
